Saud Shakeel etched his name in Pakistan’s cricket history on the first day of the opening Test against Bangladesh by becoming the joint-fastest Pakistani batter to reach 1,000 runs in Test cricket.

Saud achieved this milestone in just 20 innings, equalling a 65-year-old record set by Saeed Ahmed during the Karachi Test against Australia in 1959.

This remarkable achievement places Saud Shakeel in the elite company of Pakistani cricket legends.

His journey to 1,000 runs has been marked by consistency, with the 28-year-old amassing two centuries and six fifties, including a highest score of 208 not out.

The overall world record for the fastest to 1,000 Test runs remains with England’s Herbert Sutcliffe, who accomplished the feat in just 12 innings.

Saud Shakeel’s milestone underscores his growing importance to Pakistan’s Test side, as he continues to build on his promising career.
