RLNG prices raised by 3.2% for Aug

ISLAMABAD:

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) on Tuesday announced a 3.2% month-on-month increase in consumer prices of RLNG for August 2024, reflecting latest changes in global energy markets.

The new rates, effective from August 1, 2024, have been given in an official notification issued by Ogra.

For customers of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, the price of RLNG has been increased by 2.97%, translating into a rise of 40 cents per mmBtu. This brings the new price to $14 per mmBtu for August.

Sui Southern Gas Company consumers will pay a price of $13.57 per mmBtu, higher by 42 cents from the previous month.

The notification drew mixed reaction from industry stakeholders as the price hike could potentially affect various sectors reliant on natural gas supplies.

However, the increase was deemed necessary by the regulatory body to align with trends in international markets. With these adjustments, Ogra aims to ensure the stability of energy supply while maintaining a balance between global prices and local consumer needs.
