Bangladesh Police, fearing for their lives, announced to go on strike

Dhaka: Bangladesh police announced to go on strike. Fearing for their lives, officials disappeared from police stations and streets.

According to a foreign news agency, after the end of the Awami League government and the escape of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid to India, security concerns started bothering the policemen.

The Bangladesh Police Employees Association has announced an indefinite strike. Traffic police are absent on the streets of Dhaka and students are controlling the signals.

A number of students are also guarding temples in view of fears of attacks on the Hindu minority. Security is being managed by the army throughout the country and military personnel are deployed at various places.

Since the fall of the regime, the policemen have been living in fear and insecurity as they tried their best to crush the student movement by force. As a result, more than 400 people died and thousands were injured.
