Who will be the head of Hamas after Ismail Haniyeh?

According to the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas, the process of choosing a new leader has been started after the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh.

In this regard, the sources say that many senior officials of Hamas can replace Ismail Haniyeh. Ismail Haniyeh’s deputy, Saleh al-Aravi, could have succeeded him as head of Hamas, but he was already martyred in an Israeli attack in January.

Former Hamas chief Khalid Meshaal could be a strong candidate who has a moderate temperament. Likewise, Khalil al-Hayya, who is considered a strong figure in Hamas and was considered among the close associates of Ismail Haniyeh, is also under consideration.

Another of Haniyeh’s deputies is Zaher Jabarin, who is often referred to as the CEO of Hamas due to his role in the financial and administrative affairs of Hamas. Due to his close ties with Iran, he is also likely to become the next head of Hamas.

Yahya al-Sinwar, another of the most important leaders of the Palestinian Authority, who is leading the ongoing war in Gaza, may also replace Ismail Haniyeh.

Remember that Ismail Haniyeh was the head of the political bureau of Hamas. He was martyred in Tehran on July 31 when he was in the capital of Iran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Meghzikian.
