Olympics: Japan maintains its lead on medals table

PARIS: On the fourth day of the Paris Olympics, Japan continued to lead the medals table, with three new Olympic records set across various events.

Serbia claimed its first gold medal of the Games in the ten-meter air pistol mixed team event. The Serbian team defeated Turkey with a score of 16-14. India secured the bronze medal in the same event.

Britain’s Nathan Hales set a new Olympic record in the men’s trap shooting with a score of 48 points, surpassing the previous record of 43 points established by a Czech Republic shooter at the Olympic record China won the silver medal in this event, and Guatemala took bronze.

In table tennis mixed doubles, China defeated North Korea 4-2. South Korea won the bronze medal.

In judo, Japan’s Nagashi Taka Nori won gold in the men’s 81 kg category. Georgia secured the silver medal, and Tajikistan took bronze. In the women’s 63 kg judo category, Slovenia’s Andrea Liski won gold. Mexico earned the silver medal, and Kosovo took bronze.

The United States won its first gold medal of the Paris Games in women’s artistic gymnastics. Italy claimed the silver medal, and Brazil won bronze.

New Zealand won in women’s rugby sevens, defeating Canada 19-12 in the final. The USA earned the bronze medal.

In swimming, Australia’s Kaylee McKeown set a new Olympic record in the women’s 100m backstroke, breaking her own previous record from Tokyo.

The United States won the silver and bronze medals in the same event. Ireland’s Daniel Wiffen won gold in the men’s 800m freestyle, setting an Olympic record and becoming the first Irishman to win gold. The U.S. secured silver, and Italy took bronze.

Italy won the gold medal in the women’s epee fencing, defeating France 30-29 in the final.
