17 die as monsoon rains wreak havoc across country

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – As many as 17 people were killed in the monsoon rains continuing across the country.

In Dara Adamkhel, 11 of a family were drowned when floodwater entered their house when they were sleeping. The deceased include six boys and three women.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four people were killed in different rain-related incidents. In Mansehra, a bridge was washed away by floodwater due to flood in Mahandari Nullah on Kaghan Highway. As a result, hundreds of tourists were stranded. In Swat, the river swelled after the rains.

In Rawalpindi, a woman and her daughter were killed when the roof of their house collapsed. In Muzaffarabad, traffic could not be restored on Kohala Road so far. However, teams are working to restore the damaged road.

In Balochistan, low-lying areas were inundated in Dera Murad Jamali, Qila Saifullah, Sibbi, Bolan and Ziarat. Traffic was disrupted on Harnai-Quetta Road.

Heavy rains have also been reported in Punjab. In Karachi, rain was reported in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Azizabad, Liaquatabad, North Nazimabad, Clifton, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Shahrah-e-Faisal. Meanwhile, the Met Office has predicted rain for today.
