The businessmen of Karachi announced a protest on August 1 and warned that if the protest had no effect, the August bills would not be paid.
An emergency meeting of the leaders of business organizations of Karachi was held against the merchant-friendly scheme, in which Atiq Mir, Rizwan Irfan, Jameel Pracha, Sharif Memon participated. Mehmood Hamid, Khalid Noor, Syed Akhtar Shahid and other business leaders were also present in the meeting.

Business leader Rizwan Irfan said that the government should immediately solve the problem of IPPs, they will protest on August 1 against capacity charges, expensive electricity, protests and strikes will continue for an indefinite period.
The business leader said that the expenses have increased from the income, the government should give immediate relief. Chairman Karachi Trade Union Atiq Mir said that the government should impose an economic emergency, because of the electricity bills, the businessmen are in trouble.
A slight fall in the price of gold
Traders warned that the government should withdraw the trader-friendly scheme immediately, as the protest will not have any effect and gas bills will not be paid.
