ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar has said that courts cannot give a new colour to the constitution, adding that courts are only empowered to interpret the constitution.
Expressing his views in the National Assembly on Tuesday, he said that courts had several times re-written the constitution while interpreting the constitution.
“The finality of prophethood is part of our faith. No one has the right to issue ‘fatwas’ to kill someone while sitting at home. The state should have zero tolerance in this regard,” he maintained.
He urged the political parties to sit together to discuss this issue.
