Ministry of Railways has abolished 1976 posts

Rawalpindi: The Ministry of Railways has eliminated 1,967 posts in grades 1 to 16 from 7 divisions. A phased layoff plan was also prepared.

After the approval of the Chairman of Ministry of Railways, 1 thousand 967 posts from 7 categories of Commercial Branch of Railways from Grade 1 to 16 of 7 Divisions of Railways have been eliminated. In Quetta division there were 117 vacancies in commercial branch in 2018. Out of which 67 posts have now been eliminated. The number present is 50.

There were 1001 Vacancies in Commercial Branch in Karachi Division in 2018. Out of which 546 posts have now been eliminated. The number present is 455.

In Sukkur division there were 520 vacancies in commercial branch in 2018. Out of which 254 posts have now been eliminated. And the number present is 266. There were 609 Vacancies in Commercial Branch in Multan division in 2018. Now 269 posts have been eliminated and the available strength is 340.

There were 938 vacancies in Commercial Branch in Lahore Division in 2018. Out of which 551 posts have now been eliminated. And the current number is 387. There were 460 Vacancies in Commercial Branch in Rawalpindi Division 2018. Now 149 posts have been eliminated and the current strength is 311.

Similarly, there were 318 vacancies in commercial branch in Peshawar division in 2018. Out of which 131 posts have now been eliminated. The current number of vacancies is 187. In 2018, 3 thousand 963 employees were working in 7 divisions, out of which 1 thousand 967 were dismissed. Now the number of employees has reduced to 1 thousand 996.

Railways also took the final decision to lay off 13 thousand more employees from 127 categories of different sectors.
